Malawi University of Science and Technology
The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) is Malawi's premier public institution dedicated to science, technology, and innovation. Located in Thyolo (Southern Region), the university was a gift from the Chinese government and is built on the former Ndata Farm of the late President Bingu wa Mutharika. As of 2026, MUST is operating under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Address Malata, who has spearheaded the university's rise as a regional leader in STEM. The university is currently in a high-growth phase, recently ranking #1 in Malawi in several research-focused indices and launching specialized initiatives like the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA), which graduated its latest cohort of 48 students in February 2026.
