Gaston Berger University (UGB), located in the historic city of Saint-Louis, is Senegal's second-oldest public university and a premier center for interdisciplinary excellence.

The mission of UGB is to provide high-quality education and research that directly serves national and regional development. It distinguishes itself through its "excellence-first" policy, maintaining a moderately selective environment for its over 15,000 students. Under the current leadership of Rector Professor Magatte Ndiaye (serving as of 2026), the university has deepened its international cooperation, particularly in sustainable development, water management, and food security.
