Year established 1955
The Agricultural Research Center of Wakwa (Centre de Recherche Agricole de Wakwa) is a cornerstone of the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) in Cameroon. It is strategically located on the Adamawa Plateau, the heart of Cameroon’s cattle industry, to serve as the national hub for livestock and high-altitude crop research.
As of February 2026, under the leadership of Dr. Venasius Lendzemo, the center has transitioned into a pivotal base for Cameroon's "Import-Substitution" strategy, moving beyond traditional livestock to become the nation's primary source for temperate-climate seeds like wheat.
