Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor (UASZ) it serves as a strategic crossroads for students from Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Guinea-Conakry, playing a vital role in regional peace and socio-economic integration.

The mission of UASZ is to provide professionalized training and research that is deeply rooted in local realities—such as agroforestry, tropical medicine, and social sciences—while maintaining international standards of excellence. Under the current leadership of Rector Professor Alassane Diedhiou in 2026, the university has expanded to over 8,600 students and hosts two specialized doctoral schools, positioning itself as a dynamic alternative to the overcrowded universities in Dakar.
