Chinhoyi University of Technology
The Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) is a prominent state-owned institution in Zimbabwe, located in the town of Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province. Established to address the growing need for specialized technical and entrepreneurial skills, CUT has evolved from a teacher's college into a premier university known for its focus on Education 5.0, a national heritage-based philosophy that prioritizes innovation and industrialization alongside teaching and research.
The mission of CUT is to produce innovative graduates, create knowledge, and enhance entrepreneurship through quality teaching and technologically-oriented research. The university acts as a central hub for Zimbabwe’s industrial drive, operating an Innovation Hub and Industrial Park designed to transform student projects into viable commercial enterprises. Under the leadership of Professor David J. Simbi, who has served as Vice-Chancellor since 2006 and continues to steer the institution through its digital transformation era in 2026, the university has expanded significantly, now hosting over 14,000 students across various specialized schools.
