El Hadj Ibrahima Niass University of Sine Saloum

The El Hadj Ibrahima Niass University of Sine Saloum (USSEIN) is Senegal's first thematic public university, dedicated specifically to agriculture and its related industries. The university is a centerpiece of Senegal’s decentralization strategy, designed to anchor higher education in the "Peanut Basin", the country’s agricultural heartland,to drive food security and rural prosperity.

As of 2026, USSEIN is led by Rector Professor Diégane Diouf, who succeeded Professor Ndèye Coumba Touré Kane in early 2025. The university operates on a unique multi-campus model across several administrative regions, ensuring that its research and training are directly integrated into the local socio-economic fabric.
