Iba Der Thiam University

Iba Der Thiam University (UIDT), formerly known as the University of Thiès, is a prominent public higher education institution in Senegal’s "City of Rail."

The mission of UIDT is to provide diversified, high-quality training and research that meets regional and international socioeconomic needs. The university is structured around four major "Poles", Agronomic, Technological, Health, and Tertiary, enabling it to offer over 22 specialized degree programs to its growing student body of approximately 8,200 students. Under its current leadership in 2026, the university is navigating a period of significant growth and infrastructure expansion, while also dealing with the "pains" of a rising institution, including recent calls for enhanced campus security and improved social conditions for its students.
