Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology

The establishment of JOOUST is part of the national reforms geared at improving the country’s industrial impact and academic operational efficiency. Named in honor of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the university is positioned as a premier center of excellence in training, research, and community outreach within the Lake Victoria Basin.

The mandate of JOOUST is to: a) Coordinate and Execute priority scientific and technological projects to promote regional innovation towards the accelerated realisation of Vision 2030 and the Blue Economy and b) Strengthen capacity of students and regional stakeholders, advance knowledge-based advisory support in food security and environmental sustainability, undertake the full range of technological research and serve as the region’s technical interface with all development stakeholders and industrial partners.
