Lupane State University
Lupane State University is deeply integrated into its semi-arid environment, specializing in agricultural research and arid-land resource management. Its mission is centered on "building communities through knowledge," emphasizing innovation and research that addresses the specific developmental needs of the region and the nation at large.
The university operates across four major faculties: Agricultural Sciences, Commerce, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Engineering and Applied Sciences. As of 2026, the institution continues to expand its physical footprint in Lupane, moving away from its initial temporary sites in Bulawayo to its permanent rural campus. Under the leadership of Professor Pardon Kuipa, the current Vice-Chancellor, LSU has transitioned into a "research-led" institution, focusing on climate-smart agriculture, wildlife management, and the sustainable utilization of local timber and mineral resources.
