Midlands State University
Midlands State University is particularly famous for its pioneering "Fully Semesterized" academic system and its aggressive multi-campus expansion strategy, which has decentralized higher education across the Midlands Province and beyond. As of 2026, the university is celebrating its Silver Jubilee (25 years), marking its transition into a mature global competitor, recently ranked among the top 20 universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The mission of MSU is to advance knowledge and transform lives through outstanding education, research, and innovation. Aligned with the national Education 5.0 philosophy, the university has pivoted toward industrialization, operating a state-of-the-art Innovation Hub and a National Pathology Research and Diagnostic Centre. Under the leadership of Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa, who continues as Vice-Chancellor in 2026, the university has launched its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, focusing on digital transformation, ethical leadership, and human capital development to drive Zimbabwe's National Development Strategy (NDS 2).
