National University Science & Technology

Year established 1991

The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) is the premier STEM-focused institution in Zimbabwe. It was the second public university founded in the country to address the technical manpower needs of a growing industrial economy. Located in the "City of Kings," Bulawayo, NUST is famous for its distinctive architectural style and its bold motto, "Think in Other Terms," which encourages students to approach problems with unconventional, innovative solutions.

The mission of NUST is to be a world-class center of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship for sustainable development. This mandate is driven by the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model, focusing on the production of goods and services. The university is a leader in genomic research through its Applied Genetic Testing Centre (AGTC), which provides the most trusted DNA testing services in Zimbabwe, and its Innovation Hub, which serves as an incubator for local technological startups.
