Société d'Expansion et de Modernisation de la Riziculture à Yagoua (SEMRY)
SEMRY is a publicly-owned company with the State as its sole shareholder. It was created by Presidential Decree No. 71/DF/74 of February 24, 1971, and was then classified as a "Development Company." SEMRY's headquarters are located in Yagoua in the Mayo-Danay Department. The company's primary mission is to combat poverty by: improving the living conditions of populations affected by the harsh Sahelian climate; contributing to Cameroon's self-sufficiency in rice produced on its soil; and limiting rural exodus by encouraging young people to settle in rice-growing villages.
