AUDA-NEPAD drives continental development through science, technology, and innovation. As a key policy and coordination body, it supports African countries in building regulatory frameworks, strengthening biosafety systems, and promoting responsible genome editing through initiatives like the African Biosafety Network of Expertise (ABNE).

Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International

Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International (popularly known as Africa Harvest) was founded in the year 2002 by the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Florence Muringi Wambugu with a vision of an Africa free from hunger, poverty and malnutrition. She was inspired by God to leave her job as the Regional Director of ISAAA, where she had worked for seven years to start Africa Harvest. There were also founding Board of Directors (BOD) who included late Dr. Cyrus Ndiritu, former Director General of Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (now KALRO), and others, currently represented in the BOD by Mr. Joseph Gilbert Kibe. A significant contribution was made in the establishment of the organization by Dr. Kanayo Nwanze, then Director General of WARDA (now The Africa Rice Centre), who served as the Chair of the BOD for five years. The mission of founding the organization was to use agricultural science and technological innovations to help the poor rural farming communities in Africa to achieve food security, economic well-being, and sustainable rural development. This Pan-African vision was premised on using tools agricultural science and technological innovations and strategic partnerships with grassroots communities, governments, research institutions, public/private sector and development partners at different levels to create sustainable life-changing impact and developing working models based on crop value chains, which could be shared widely to further scale up the impact.

AGTECH Consulting Ltd (AGTECH)

AGTECH Consulting Ltd (AGTECH), is a Private Limited by Shares Company, incorporated in Kenya by the Registrar of Companies in 2020 under the Companies Act, 2015. The objective of AGTECH is to provide technical guidance, advisory services and strategic planning and leadership to national and international organizations access the African region and markets with their innovative products, technologies and services.

Specifically, AGTECH, on behalf of its clients, will scout and document the regulatory landscape, search for, hold consultations, and secure a partnership with a local entity or third-party, to either solely or through a third-party, develop, submit, defend and secure application permits for import and field-testing, conduct and coordinate field trials and carry out product registration in target African countries. Depending on a product and Client’s specific request, AGTECH will design and provide initial regulatory roadmap, product testing protocols and test results, deployment and commercialization pathways, product stewardship plans, robust communication plans, product promotional strategies, and a bunch of other services for rapid product uptake and diffusion.

AGTECH’s team is composed of individuals with proven track records and nationally/internationally renowned in designing, implementing, managing, deploying and commercializing innovative products and technologies in Africa that arise from multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural programs. Products so far in AGTECH’s portfolio are, but not limited to, proprietary bio-fertilizers, plant growth regulators, bio-stimulants, bio-pesticides, crop varieties, effective management of pre- and post-harvest insect pests of agricultural and public health importance, storage and post-harvest handling technologies and targeted capacity building of organizations.
