Polytechnic Institute of Manica

Year established 2005

The Polytechnic Institute of Manica (Instituto Superior Politécnico de Manica - ISPM) is a premier public vocational institution in central Mozambique, established to drive regional development through applied science and technical training. Located at the Matsinho Campus near Chimoio, ISPM serves as a strategic research hub specifically focused on the "breadbasket" regions of central and northern Mozambique. In 2026, under the leadership of Director General Professor Elisa Matola, the institute has significantly expanded its innovation footprint through the MozSkills project, which supports student startups and transitions the campus from traditional arts-based incubation to high-tech science entrepreneurship. ISPM is internationally recognized for its collaborative research in climate-resilient agriculture, notably the DIVAGRI project, and its specialized engineering programs in Zootechnics, Forestry, and Agribusiness. Its 2026 academic year commenced on February 9, with a curriculum deeply integrated with local industry needs, including a "Model Farm" that serves both as an educational laboratory and a commercial source of income.
