Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC)
Year established 1993
The Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC) acts as the engine for the country’s industrialization and technological advancement. In 2026, the centre is currently implementing its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which focuses on shifting the institution from "production push" to "market-centered" innovation, aligning with Zimbabwe's National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
The mission of SIRDC is to provide Zimbabwe and the region with technological solutions for sustainable development. This mandate is fulfilled through 12 specialized research institutes that reduce scientific theories to practical, commercialized products and processes for the agricultural, mining, and manufacturing sectors.
