The American University in Cairo (AUC) is Egypt’s leading private research university and a premier institution for American-style liberal arts education in the Middle East. As of February 2026, the university is led by President Ahmad Dallal and is ranked #1 in Egypt for Internationalization, maintaining a global ranking in the 601–800th band (THE 2026). AUC operates two distinct campuses: the historic Tahrir Square landmark and the state-of-the-art New Cairo campus, which is currently undergoing a massive expansion under the "Campus 2026" initiative. This project includes the construction of the NextGen Living and Learning Spaces and the Technology, Research, and Innovation Lab (TRI-Lab), designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
