The University of Cape Town (UCT) is South Africa's oldest university and consistently ranks as the top institution on the African continent.
The mission of UCT is to be an inclusive, research-intensive African university that addresses the challenges of our time. Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Mosa Moshabela, who assumed office in late 2024, the university is currently implementing Strategy 2030. This framework, approved in December 2025, centers on four key missions: Teaching and Learning, Research and Internationalisation, Societal Responsiveness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. A core goal of this strategy is to "unleash human potential for a fair and just society."
